Ishikawa Tani Exhibit Brochure

A modern brochure for a very traditional glass art exhibit by one of former college professors

While I was in my final year of college one of professors approached me and asked if I could design a brochure for an upcoming exhibit of his. The professor was John Leighton, an accomplished sculptor and carpenter and the teacher of the glass casting class that I decided to take to broaden my art knowledge and skill sets.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”186″ img_size=”full”][vc_column_text]

The Design

The brochure was a full color 10″x10″ saddle stitched booklet that contained images and information on the various pieces that he had made during and after living and working in Japan. The imagery was the focus of the booklet and I let it define the grid, with the explanation text in white over the black sections that blocked in the voids between them. I also used rough clipping masks on all of the images that didn’t fully bleed off the edges to simulate the appearance of torn edges and ink brush strokes that went hand in hand with the nature of the sculptures.[/vc_column_text][vc_gallery type=”image_grid” images=”184,185,186″ title=”Gallery”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
